Grenada Middle School was honored as the recipient of the 2005 School District Program Award
by the Mississippi Alliance for Arts Education. This outstanding arts
education program was recognized at the annual MAAE Arts Education Awards
Presentation at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum and Convention Center
in Biloxi. A reception to honor the Awards recipients was held at the
Walter Anderson Museum of Art in Ocean Springs.
Representing GMS at
the awards ceremony were, l to r, Principal Dr. Carole White, Walls
Artist Robin Whitfield, and Project Coordinator Gail Daigneault. The Grenada Middle School has developed an innovative new teaching strategy
using the arts-an idea to use the walls of a building facility to teach
the student. As a result of this concept, the arts partnership between
business, artists, school district parent groups, and the Mississippi
Arts Commission has created Grenada Middle School’s “Walls
that Teach” learning environment. |
