MANDATORY DRESS CODE
K-12

GENERAL CONSIDERATIONS Each student has the
responsibility to dress appropriately for the school environment. Clothing, hair, and general appearance
shall be neat and clean, shall not disrupt the classroom atmosphere,
shall not be unusually provocative, or shall not violate health
and safety rules of the school.
The guidelines for dress and grooming are provided to assist
parents and shall apply to all students.
The District's dress code is established to teach hygiene,
instill discipline, and prevent and avoid safety hazards.
GENERAL GUIDELINESStudents
are to be in compliance with the dress code policy including proper
grooming and neatness before entering the building and at ALL times
on campus and school buses.
The principal will determine what constitutes distracting
influences in the matter of dress and grooming and reserves the
right to make modifications as needed. Altering the policy in any way is prohibited.
If a style of dress or appearance is, in the opinion of the
administration, disruptive to the educational process, constitutes
a potential threat to the safety or health of the student or other
persons, or contradicts the intent of the policy, it shall not be
permitted. *Clothing,
jewelry, or other ornamentation advertising or depicting drugs,
alcohol, tobacco, gang symbols, profanity/obscenities, or that which
is sexually suggestive is prohibited. **All questions
relating to the mandatory dress code shall be determined by the
principal at each school site.
*Logos must be school
approved, designed and be located over the heart (on the left side). >>>Clothing
that is one or two sizes ABOVE or BELOW your normal size should
not be worn.<<<
CONSEQUENCES-Middle
& High Schools (6-12)
First Offense: Telephone
call by the principal to the parent/guardian. The student will go to ISS until a change of clothes is provided.
Student must have appropriate attire or wear something the
school provides and return it at the end of the day.
(The student must have a change of clothes to complete the
school day.) Second Offense: ISS
for one day. The parent/guardian will be required to attend a conference with
the principal. Student must call parent to bring appropriate attire
or wear something the school provides and return it at the end of
the day. (The student must have a change of clothes
to complete the school day.) Third Offense: ISS for two days. The parent/guardian will be required to attend a conference with
the principal. Student must call parent to bring appropriate attire
or wear something the school provides and return it at the end of
the day. (The student must have a change of clothes
to complete the school day.) Subsequent Offenses: OSS
(Out of School Suspension) for remainder of the school day. (If parent/guardian meets with principal
then OSS will be excused.) CONSEQUENCES-Elementary
Schools (K-5)
First Offense: Letter of reminder (warning) sent to the
parent from the principal with the requirement that it be signed and returned the following day. The student must call parent to bring appropriate attire
or wear something the school provides and return it at the end of
the day. (The student
must have a change of clothes to complete the school day.) Second Offense: Telephone
call by the principal to the parent. The student must have a parent bring appropriate attire or wear something
the school provides and return it at the end of the day. (The student must have a change of clothes
to complete the school day.) Third Offense: The parent
will be required to attend a conference with the principal. The parent should bring appropriate attire or the student should
wear something the school provides and return it at the end of the
day. (The student must have a change of clothes
to complete the school day.) Fourth Offense: 1 day
suspension in ISS (In School Suspension).
The student must call parent to bring appropriate attire or wear
something the school provides and return it at the end of the day. (The student must have a change of clothes
to complete the school day.) Fifth Offense: 1-2 days
in OSS (Out of School Suspension). Subsequent Offenses: OSS
and parent/guardian conference with administration. **Upon enrollment during the school year, a student will have 3 school days in which to comply with the dress code.

Students will be allowed to change
clothes during classes involving physical exertion or extreme movement.
Sponsors/Principals will approve appropriate clothing for
each class. Students will be allowed to wear this clothing ONLY in the
approved classes.
o
If any activity occurs during the
last period of the day, students may not leave class area out of
clothing that meets the dress code policy until all school buses
have left campus. (If
riding a bus home, clothing that meets the dress code policy must
be worn before boarding bus.)
o
Students will stay in clothing
that meets the dress code policy until events begin such as performances,
pep rallies, or games. If
event ends during the school hours they will need to change back
into clothing that meets the dress code policy. (For example, cheerleaders, football players and band members
who wear something other than clothing that meets the dress code
policy to a pep rally will change into their pep rally uniform 10
minutes prior to the scheduled event then change back into clothing
that meets the dress code policy within 10 minutes of the conclusion
of the event.)
o
ROTC will be allowed to dress in
military uniforms on prescribed "Uniform Days" according
to curriculum and grading.
o Vocational School students will purchase coveralls for approximately $10. Each of the 4 areas will have a different color of overalls. These coveralls will be slipped on over the clothing that meets the dress code policy and stored at the vocational school. Picture Day Nice Clothes "Spirit Day" Athletic, Cheerleading, Band, Choir, School or Class/Club T-Shirts will be allowed on "Spirit Days", but must be tucked in. T-shirts may be any color representing the school organization. If any student chooses not to wear a T-shirt on "Spirit Day" then they must wear clothing that meets the dress code policy. (T-shirts should still be worn with appropriate bottom such as blue jeans or khakis.)
Homecoming Theme Week Dress up (Speak with Cheerleader Sponsors Ð (some
suggestions: Fatigues,
Western Wear,Red/Blue Day, Class Shirts, 60's/80's Days---NO Opposite
Day, Pajama Day) >All faculty and staff shall dress to a standard,
which is equal to, or above the minimum levels of uniform dress
required for students. |
