GSD Transportation Department Awards Presented

Outstanding service during the 2010-2011 school year has been recognized by the GSD Transportation Department with several awards. Gene Tolbert received the Carley Denton Driver of the Year Award and Jerry Brown, Sue Ann Vest, Coach Steve Fowler, Jerry Reed, and Kent Harrison were recognized as Outstanding Drivers.
The Carley Denton Driver of the Year Award, established to honor the deceased daughter of former bus driver Anita Denton, was presented to its third recipient, Gene Tolbert. Transportation Director Benji Britt comments, “Mr. Tolbert has a can-do attitude, always willing to go the extra mile, and willing to do so with a smile. Mr. Tolbert gets respect, not because of demands, but because of the respect shown and the example that is created. He has the heart of a saint and a personality that will light up any room. He appreciates the great responsibility of bus driving and all the challenges that it brings.”
