Grenada School District
Technology Department

Grenada School District has an exceptional Technology Department led by Technology Coordinator Mike Liberto and members of the Technology Team Chris Corbett and Wesley King. Our Technology Department are busy ensuring all software is licensed properly, maintaining computers, servers, switches, printers, and other technical equipment, and assisting with the planning, design and installation of future network expansions as growth demands. The Technology Department also prepares our annual District E-rate, our federally funded technology grant that accounts for 80% of reimbursement for technology services.

The Technology Department oversees over 1,800 computers, 400 printers, 100 electronic white boards, 25 servers, 25 computer labs, 5 mobile computer carts with 30 laptops per cart, 2 NEO carts (30 devices per cart for Accelerated Reading), security cameras for the entire District, and numerous televisions, projectors, DVRs, and telephone systems. All requests for service are submitted through an automated Technology HelpDesk, and to date, over 600 tickets have been processed through this system.

The Technology Department also maintains and trains teachers and staff on SAM7. This is our District-wide student database and is the support for ActiveParent. Parental access of ActiveParent enables searches for grades, discipline, and homework for each student in the District, and the AIM Notification system. The AIM system calls parents and guardians when emergency situations warrant parent contact or when a child is absent from school.

The Accelerated Reader, Accelerated Math, Star Math, and Star Reading programs are also maintained by the Technology Department. These computer programs, as well as Study Island, Education City, Orchard, and MySkillsTutor, are available to enhance instruction.

Tiffany Griffin, an 8th grade language arts teacher says: “The Study Island program is aligned with the Mississippi Curriculum Framework and allows teachers to individualize instruction. This affords students the opportunity to focus on their weaker objectives. Study Island helps each student in his or her quest for growth on the MCT2 at the end of each school year.”

Our Technology Department assists in each student’s education by maintaining all the equipment that students use every day. Technology creates a vision for our future to enable our students to step out into the world and use technology for their college and work careers.
