Upcoming District 1 School Board Election Petition & Affidavit Due Jan. 25

The Grenada School District is announcing the election of a school board member for District 1. The District 1 school board member will serve for a five-year term.

A person seeking election to the Board of Trustees must be a qualified elector and a bona fide resident of the district which he/she would represent.

A person desiring to be a candidate shall file with the Office of the Circuit Clerk of Grenada County a petition signed by not less than twenty-five qualified electors in the supervisor's district that the trustee will be representing.

The petition of potential candidates must be accompanied by an affidavit stating that the candidate is a bona fide resident and a qualified elector in the district that he/she seeks to represent.

The petition and accompanying affidavit may be secured at the office of the Circuit Clerk of Grenada County between the hours of 8:00 a.m. -5:00 pm., Monday through Friday. Each person seeking election must file the petition and afffidavit by Monday, January 25, 2010, at the Office of the Ccircuit Clerk of the Grenada County Court House in Grenada, Mississippi.

If a person does not file the petition and affidavit by Monday, January 25, 2010, he/she shall not be considered in the election and any such votes cast for such person shall not be counted in the election. The election will be held on Saturday, March 6, 2010.
