GHS Navy National Defense Cadet Corps Program Welcomes New Leader



Navy Career Counselor Chief Ron T. Chambers has joined the faculty at Grenada High School as the Program Coordinator and Naval Science Instructor for the Navy National Defense Cadet Corps (NNDCC). Chief Chambers comes to Grenada High with 25 years of honorable U.S. Navy service. Six of those years were proudly spent in joint service with the First and Third Marine Divisions. Chief Chambers brings extensive experience in leadership, youth counseling, personnel and administrative management, and life skills training.

He is a native of San Antonio, Texas, but completed high school in Meridian, Mississippi, where his parent relocated during his ninth grade school year. He later earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Psychology from Park University and a Masters Degree in Mass Communication from the University of Southern Mississippi.

When asked about his expectations for the NNDCC program he replied, “The Navy National Defense Corps provides a significantly beneficial high school program in which cadet members can build a strong work ethic and grow in responsibility, leadership, discipline, self-confidence, teamwork, and volunteer community service.”


Continuing, he says, “I applaud the accomplishment efforts of my predecessors with the Navy junior leadership program at Grenada High School. Moreover, I am honored, humbled, and excited about thischallenging opportunity to help reinvigorate the program, and to instill foundational character principles, while training future leaders of the U.S. Armed Forces and various chosen career pursuits.

Chief Chambers clearly exemplifies a passion for the NNDCC program, along with an allegiance to the cadets entrusted to his care and the Grenada School District. He promotes the mission objectives that substantiate mentoring of youth leaders.

Embarking upon a new school year, Chief Chambers is committed to developing cadets of the highest caliber with the strongest competitive skills and to gaining program traction as a distinguished Grenada High School Navy Cadet Corps leadership program.
