GHS Beauty Revue
While not all little girls dream of crowns, roses, and beauty pageants, most enjoy the chance to dress up in satin and sparkles, high heels, and dramatic makeup. This past Thursday those dreams became reality on the stage of the Grenada High School Auditorium. The occasion? The annual GHS Beauty Revue, of course!
Thirty-six ninth through twelfth grade contestants vied for the title of GHS Most Beautiful at 6:00p.m. Participants competed individually in evening gown modeling, and then returned to the stage in small groups for quarter-turns. Quarter-turns allow the judges a 360-degree look at the contestants as well as their evening gowns. After every competitor has completed individual modeling and quarter-turns, the entire group of contestants returned to the stage to allow the judges one final look.
GHS was pleased to host three very special judges this year. Ms. Lenora Lewis, from Jackson, Mississippi, has served on the board of directors for the Mississippi Association of Pageant Judges, and currently serves as president of the organization. Mr. Jamie Sellers, who hails from Pontotoc, Mississippi, is the owner of Emma J salon in Oxford. The salon specializes in hair and makeup designs for pageants, weddings, and other formal occasions. Miss Blair Wortsmith, a Junior Banking and Finance major at the University of Mississippi and the current Miss Vicksburg 2018, has also held the titles of Ole Miss Most Beautiful 2017 and Miss Parade of Beauties. She has also competed in the Miss Mississippi pageant where she was named a Preliminary Swimsuit winner and the Non-finalist Interview winner. The judges scored each girl individually, and then passed their score cards to the tabulator for calculation of the final results. The top ten winners were recognized, followed by the top five alternates and GHS Most Beautiful.
The Top Ten finalists chosen were Mallory England, Carson Lollar, Abigail Martin, Hannah Wilbourn, Madison Martin (5th Alternate), Anna Kuhn (4th Alternate), Morgan Banks (3rd Alternate, Miss Congeniality), Hallie Staten (2nd Alternate), Jayden Phillips (1st Alternate), and Presley Caldwell (GHS Most Beautiful). Congratulations! Much preparation has gone into creating a pageant that offers an entertaining and enjoyable evening for contestants and audience members alike. Amazing entertainment was provided by Visons' Showchoir members Trevor Tims, Mason Blankenship, and Caitlyn Zangri.
