Showchoir Nationals Competition

Visions Showchoir from Grenada High School traveled to Nashville, Tennessee, March 23-26 to attend Showchoir Nationals. While there, they performed their competition show Think Pink on the Grand Ole Opry stage and watched performances by some of the most elite showchoir groups from across the country. Think Pink is loosely based on the character, Inspector Jacques Clouseau, from the Pink Panther movies.

For his performance in the program, Junior class member Tripp McCrory, was named Overall Outstanding Male Performer out of all the showchoirs in attendance. This award is especially distinctive as Visions overcame a great obstacle during the event when Bailey Muselwhite, who was portraying Inspector Clouseau, became extremely ill upon arrival in Nashville. Visions' members stepped up to the plate to recreate parts of the show in order to make it possible for McCrory to step in as Muselwhite's replacement the night before their performance. Beth Muselwhite, Bailey's mother stated, "Visions is such a talented group of students. The members really came together to make sure that the show could go on without Bailey, who held a major role in the production. They checked on us daily while he was hospitalized. We are so thankful to be a part of such an incredible collection of students and parents!"

Visions Competition in Nashville

While in Nashville, the entourage took advantage of the great entertainment available and attended performances at the Grand Ole Opry. At the historic venue, members and parents enjoyed performances by Ricky Scaggs, John Conley, and Carrie Underwood. Before returning home on Sunday, Visions also enjoyed a buffet dinner, show, and dancing at the Wildhorse Saloon in the Historic Warehouse District in downtown Nashville. This event was hosted for all the groups attending the competition.

Congratulations to Visions for a show well done and to McCrory for his award-winning performance. Well-wishes are sent out to Bailey Muselwhite for a complete recovery from his illness. Visions' next performance, Visions Spring Revue, is scheduled for April 20 – 21, 2017 at the Grenada High School Auditorium. Performance times are: • Thursday April 20, 2017 - 2:00p.m. matinee; 7:00 p.m. • Friday April 21, 2017 7:00p.m.
