Wins Partners in Education Governor's Award School partnerships aren't just a good idea. They are essential to student
success. It
is for this reason that Governor Ronnie Musgrove and the Mississippi
Association of Partners in Education recognized the winners of the first
annual Governor's Awards for Outstanding School-Community Partnerships
at the 17th annual Partners in Education Seminar.
Winners
in each of the four award categories are as follows:
Elementary Partnership-The Kidzeum,
Grenada School District, Grenada, MS
Secondary
Partnership-Aberdeen Middle School BASF, Aberdeen School District, Aberdeen,
MS
District-Wide Partnership-Association for Excellence in Education/Jones
County and Laurel School Districts, Laurel, MS
Visionary Award -Ask for More Collaborative, Jackson Public Schools,
Jackson, MS.
Selection criteria included
the specified needs and goals of the partnership; activities; communication
with students, parents, staff, employees, and news media; and effectiveness.
"We are grateful to Governor Musgrove for the opportunity to recognize
our state's premier education partnerships," Beth Fisher, president
of the Mississippi Association of Partners in Education, said. "The
impact these dedicated organizations and individuals have on our state
and our future is staggering to think about. It is an honor to recognize
