Grenada School District Appoints New Head Coach

Ashley Kuhn has been selected as the new head coach of Grenada School District. Has worked with several successful programs, including Itawamba Agricultural, Durant, Lafayette County, and West Point. He states, “I am very excited about the opportunity to become a part of a team of school administrators who are 100% committed and focused on building a successful football program here in Grenada. I intend to utilize my skills as a teacher, organizer, and leader to direct our program to championship levels with character, honor, and integrity."

High School Principal Jerry Williams says, “I am excited that Coach Kuhn is the new head football coach for Grenada High School. We interviewed many highly qualified candidates for this position and he was the person that we believe will make Grenada a successful program. I look forward to working with Coach Kuhn to assure that he has everything needed to win football games.

Kuhn worked as Offensive Coordinator at West Point High School when they won the 4A State Championship in 2005, working closely with Coach Chris Chambliss. Chambliss states, “Grenada has hired a great football coach. Coach Kuhn is a ‘people person’ with a work ethic that is second to none. He continuous study and great knowledge of the game will be an asset to any program.”


Kuhn was selected from a field of 40 applicants across the State. Superintendent Dr. David Daigneault states, “We feel that the Grenada Football Program that is a gold mine waiting to be discovered. Grenada needs an individual with drive, determination, a good work ethic, and a heart for motivating students. Combine these character traits with in-depth knowledge of how to build a successful program and I think we have a hard to beat combination. We were impressed with Kuhn in our interviews and we are convinced that he is the best man for the job. We are looking forward to supporting his efforts in building the Grenada Program and joining in the new football initiatives.”

Coach Ashley Kuhn has 13 years of coaching experience, most recently as Head Coach at Itawamba Agricultural High School in Fulton, MS, where he led the IAHS Indians to the playoffs during his first year. Previously during his two-year tenure at Durant High School, his teams went 25-3, won two Region Championships, and one North State Region Championship. His coaching staff was recognized as Regional Coaching Staff of the Year in 2008 and 2009. Before his success in Durant, Kuhn served at two very successful football programs. From 2006-2008, Kuhn was Offensive Coordinator at Lafayette County High School, where his teams made the playoffs both years. From 1998-2005, Kuhn led the offense at perennial powerhouse West Point High School. His successes there included a State Championship in 2005 and a North State Championship in 2002. He also served as Head Football Coach for the West Point 9th grade team.

Kuhn received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Mississippi State University. He and his wife Jennifer have two children, Anna, 10, and Thomas, 6. Kuhn is originally from Louisville, MS.
