Discovery Lab Provides Hands-On Science Activities
The GUES Discovery Lab offers students an opportunity to learn about science in an engaging and hands-on environment. Lab Director Melody Shaw creates activities and lessons that encourage students to explore more of the world around them. One of the exceptional programs provided for GUES Discovery Lab students has been presented by Jan Walton, Grenada County 4-H Youth Development Agent for Mississippi State University Extension Service. Lessons about global warming, robots, and more are part of the activities that Walton has brought to the students in the Discovery Lab.
This school year, more events are planned including the National 4H Science Day on October 5, Wired About Wind, and the first annual Wild About Science Day on December 7.
The Wild About Science Day will be a special event that will allow all students at GUES to take part in exciting science experiments. “Walton is a joy to work with and I look forward to the events we have planned this school year. The 4-H events enrich the Lab’s lessons and enhance our mission of the Discovery Lab - to develop a love of science wthin our students,” stated Shaw.
Lab events and photos are available on the school’s website:
