GSD November Shining Star Character Representative

By Dr. Wanda Merritt
Director of School Improvement/Parent Coordinator

The November Shining Star Character Representative is William Charles Walls, a tenth grader at Grenada High School. According to Dr. Sandra Howell, Grenada High School Assistant Principal, generosity, honesty, and integrity are traits that seem natural and second nature to Charles.
Dr. Howell expressed how she witnessed William Charles display those characteristics through an act of kindness when he reported to GHS Principal Jerry Williams that a valuable item that Dr. Howell had misplaced was laying on the ground. The next morning, Dr. Howell found the young man so she could show her appreciation. She said he responded as if acts of generosity, honesty, and integrity are what all students should automatically do.
His English teacher stated, “William Charles is a very good student who exhibits generosity, honesty, and integrity.”
Mr. Jerry Williams said “William Charles is very deserving of the Shining Star Character Award. In addition to his phenomenal character traits, he has no discipline infractions.”
Mr. Williams, Dr. Howell, and Dr. Wanda Pittman Merritt encouraged William Charles Walls to continue to display great character in his everyday routines.
