Football Completes a Successful Summer Program

A solid foundation was established in GHS football this season in the summer strength and conditioning program.  Emphasizing the importance of participation in the weight room, Head Football Coach Ashley Kuhn states, “We have had a tremendous turn-out for our summer strength and conditioning program.” He described his philosophy for his training approach, “We work hard and do things the right way.”

Kuhn is very content with the involvement and drive of the football staff.  The staff includes David Parker as Defensive Coordinator, Stan Robertson as the 7th and 8th Grade Head Football and Head Powerlifting Coach, Curtis Hardy as Assistant Defensive and Running Backs Coach, John Davis as 9th Grade and Assistant High School Coach, Chad Griffin Defensive Line Coach, Danny Aldridge Wide Receivers Coach, Camron Tawater Defensive Backs Coach, Wesley Richardson Junior High Assistant Coach, Colin Ray 9th Grade and Offensive Line Coach, and Matt McCrory Quarterbacks Coach. Kuhn says, “We are very pleased with our staff-both new coaches and those returning.  They are all committed to what needs to be done.”

Kuhn is appreciative of the assistance from the administration. “We have had tremendous support from the administrative staff,” Kuhn states,  “They are doing what they need to do to get things the way they need to be.”

Kuhn has plans to revamp the program, beginning with changes at the middle school level.  GMS will be playing a true 7th and 8th grade schedule to produce positive results in high school.  Kuhn describes his strategies, “We’ve made a lot of changes to build success in the junior program that we hope will benefit us in the future.”

Coach Hardy verbalizes the optimism of the staff by saying, “We are looking forward to a great year.  I have really enjoyed working with this group of coaches and players.  I look forward to an exciting season!”  With Kuhn’s motto of, “Do things the right way and do more than you think you can,” the GHS fans are also expecting an exciting season!
