Community Roundtable Established
To increase communications between the Grenada School District and our community stakeholders, GSD has established a new committee, the Superintendent’s Community Round Table. This group of area leaders will serve as liaisons between the District and our County’s citizens to disseminate school information. This 25 member group will receive data concerning our District’s testing status, teaching strategies, evaluation techniques, and the District’s goals and vision.
This focus group will also function to assist our District in the upcoming SACS evaluation (Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.) The Round Table will serve to provide input concerning the community’s perceptions of our educational processes, perceived educational needs, and evaluations of effectiveness of initiatives.
Our District is voluntarily participating in the SACS evaluation to continue our status as an accredited institution. Not all schools in Mississippi are accredited. SACS Accreditation sets our District apart as adhering to standards of educational excellence. This designation provides our District with a viable credibility of our educational quality with a standard known throughout the Southeast. SACS Accreditation provides a benchmark of excellence and provides positive proof of our educational processes for potential residents, businesses, and industries.
The Round Table’s first meetings will be held in November and will serve to solidify the positive interactions between our District and community. Supplementing our ongoing communications initiatives such as our District website, facebook page, and monthly newspaper, the Round Table will offer personal hands-on discussions and explanations of school plans, vision and implementation. Disseminating information to our parents, businesses, and residents will be the goal for this new focus group, cementing relationships and supporting the educational processes of our community’s children.
