BancorpSouth Donates Downtown Facility to Grenada School District
BancorpSouth, the largest state chartered bank located in the State of Mississippi, has graciously offered the downtown bank facility at no cost to the Grenada School District. BancorpSouth employs over 4,000 people and has 270 banking offices in six southeastern states. The 14,000 square foot building will be deeded to the District after official school board approval.
Aubrey Patterson, Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of BancorpSouth states, "I spent several happy years of my childhood in Grenada during the time my father was employed as an engineer on the Grenada Dam Project. The construction of the dam created many opportunities and solved many problems for the people of Grenada County. I envision that the contribution of this facility to Grenada School District will be a catalyst for continued progress for Grenada's citizens. The Grenada School District presented a compelling position to BancorpSouth in support of this gift. This action on the part of the District provided us with a positive indication that our donation would be utilized with the same vision and intensity to obtain optimum benefit for Grenada."
President of the Grenada Office Wayne Smith says, "BancorpSouth is focused upon community thinking. The actions of our banking system reflect our community's best interests. Our Grenada customers are important to us-they always receive our personal attention. We are cognizant of the positive impact that this gift will have upon our area and the educational opportunities that this will make available for our community." |
